Bookstores are my calming and happy place. It’s a source of charm and comfort. I find joy in discovering books that speak to my soul. I’m into inspirational, self-help books which I believe are timeless wisdom and solace waiting to be revisited, whatever season it may be of our lives.
I bought this Simple Abundance book in the province that sells second hand books, priced at 249 pesos. Definitely a reasonable price for such a piece of gem. At first glance, I was drawn by its appealing title, pink color and simple tree illustration book cover. However, upon scanning few pages of it, I was enticed on how the book was presented as well as written words of wisdom that already speaks to my soul. I must buy it.
Simple Abundance is a book of 366 evocative essays–one for every day of the year -written for women who wish to live by their own lights. This book is organized as a walk through the year, beginning on New Year’s Day.
This book shows how our daily lives can be an expression of our authentic selves. Every day, our own true path leads us to a happier, more fulfilling and contented way of life – the state of grace known as Simple Abundance. Through its gentle lessons of comfort and joy, it will help us in our journey to discover authentic living.
In today’s fast paced living, we often overlooked the healing power of simple abundance. A term that is simple yet so vague in reality due to demanding life and endless tasks. How simple living has become a challenge in today’s world. Why gratitude plays an important part in an abundant life.
I loved the author’s organic approach to gratitude, simpler and happier life. To find bliss in the ordinary. To rediscover the sacred soulcraft of homecaring. To celebrating our lives and to trust the wisdom of our hearts. To take the gentle path, to enjoy solitude by appreciating the beauty of stillness. Just sitting in silence. To allot the gift of time to journey within. To learn to savor small, authentic moments that bring us contentment. Simple pleasures of life often overlooked. The simpler we make our lives, the more abundant we become.
Six principles are identified as the core aspects of each essays written beautifully. They are Gratitude, Simplicity, Order, Harmony, Beauty and Joy. At the heart of Simple Abundance is an inner journey, an authentic awakening of soul to be genuinely happy. To reach awareness within, our own authentic self waiting to be rediscovered.
Leaving you a beautiful excerpt from the book, January 5 entry about “The Woman You Were Meant To Be”. Something to ponder on as we pause and contemplate on how we want to live our lives authentically as a woman.
“Many women today feel a sadness we cannot name. Though we accomplish much of what we set out to do, we sense that something is missing in our lives and – fruitlessly – search “out there” for the answers. What’s often wrong is that we are disconnected from an authentic sense of self. “ – Emily Hancock
